Nick ble født i Ohio i 1954. Som attenåring ble han sendt til Vietnam. Han kom tilbake forandret. I mange år jobbet han som skogbrannmann i nordlige skogsområder. Det var en av de få tingene som fikk ham til å føle seg levende. Likevel følte han seg fortsatt utenfor. Han forsto ikke tempoet eller prioriteringene i verden rundt seg. Han trakk seg gradvis tilbake. Nå bor han i et hus i fjellet, omgitt av skog. Han kjører motorsykkel på småveier og snakker lite. Han foretrekker lyden av vinden fremfor samtaler.

Nick was born in Ohio in 1954. At eighteen, he was sent to Vietnam. He came back different. For years, he worked as a forest firefighter in the northern woods. It was one of the few things that made him feel alive. Still, he felt out of place. He could not follow the pace or priorities of the world around him. He gradually withdrew. Now he lives in a house in the mountains, surrounded by forest. He rides his motorbike along back roads and speaks little. He prefers the sound of the wind to any conversation.

Nick nació en Ohio 1954. A los 18 lo enviaron a Vietnam. Volvió distinto. Durante años trabajó como bombero forestal, apagando incendios en zonas boscosas del norte. Era de las pocas cosas que le hacían sentir bien. Seguía sintiéndose fuera de lugar. No entendía el ritmo ni las prioridades del mundo que tenía delante. Se fue alejando. Ahora vive en una casa en la montaña, rodeado de bosque. Sale en moto por carreteras secundarias y habla poco. Prefiere el sonido del viento a cualquier conversación.
