FÁTIMA
Fátima was born in Al Hoceima, Morocco, in a house blue on the outside and inside. She comes from a family of fishermen, but as a girl she spent her afternoons in her aunt’s dye shop, learning how to work with colour and its shades. When she was twelve, they moved to Marseille. She never quite fit in. While studying languages, she worked as a seamstress, a waitress, in kitchens. Whatever came up.
Now she lives in Lyon, in a bright white flat, with a few of her aunt’s fabrics hanging on the wall. She’s a translator. She speaks Arabic, French, Spanish, and English. Her movements are gentle and calm. Dresses with effortless elegance.
Her beauty and presence draw people in, but also hold them at a distance. There’s something imposing about her, though she doesn’t intend it. Those who manage to cross that invisible threshold discover a gaze that’s open and generous.
Fátima is at ease in her life. She’s not planning to move again.
